Since I decided to attend the three - two week programs in March 2007 (6 weeks) and I had only 4 weeks vacation per year - I retired (aka "quit") and am now full time here on our farm. People ask me, "Do you like retirement?" My response: "What's not to like!!!!!"
In
my prior life as a teacher, I learned how students learn and it
is not very different to how horses learn - catch them doing it
RIGHT, small increments for BIG gains, and finally praise and lots
of it when the answer is right. When I left teaching I assumed I
was done with that part of my life. I have come
full circle and am back in the teaching game, only my students
are bigger, heavier, and a lot quieter (that's horses I'm talking about folks) !! The training with horses
and learning with people is done on weeknights and weekends
in our new 62' X 150' Coverall arena - the centre of activity.
